TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS

A BIG thank you to those already certified! However, we still have many parents that have not certified in anything yet and we can not have a successful year without all of our volunteers.  The training schedule is posted on our website under Training, along with listed at the end of this email. There are only 2 more scheduled training sessions. All parents must be certified in timing.  We ask that you also get certified in runner and records & ribbons if possible.

We are still in need of more Stroke and Turn Judges, a new Starter, and Referees.

As an added incentive for those never before certified in these positions, once you attend training and are certified and work 2 meets in these areas, we will return $20.00 of swim fees paid for one swimmer to you. (Should both parents become certified in these areas, we will return this fee for up to 2 swimmers.) Contact the SAIL reps for more information.

Referee- SAIL requires Referees to take the Referee, S&T, and Starter classes

Starter - We need someone to commit to the Starter position as Mike Anderson is not able to fill it this year - SAIL requires Starters to take the Starter and S&T classes

Stroke & Turn - We must have a minimum of 6 certified Stroke & Turn officials, but more would be EXTREMELY helpful. Currently we only have 3. We did lose one of our past S&T Judges to coaching this year - SAIL requires Stroke & Turn to take the S&T classes

Clerk of Course (Head)

- SAIL requires Clerk of Course to take the Clerk of Course classes

Timer - ALL parents must take the online test to certify for Timer positions.

It requires 10 timers per half for every swim meet. There is NO better spot on the deck during a meet than Timer because you get an up front spot AND you can cheer for your swimmer.

Records/Ribbons - It requires 2 Records people per half for every swim meet. If you can add and divide, you can do this. It requires 2 Ribbons people per half for every swim meet. If you can place a sticker, you can do this. As a plus, this is usually in an air conditioned location when the meet is somewhere there is a clubhouse. Currently we have 2 of each.
Runner - It requires 3 Runners per half for every swim meet. We lost 2 long-time Runners last year when their swimmer graduated. FitBit users...this is a great time to get your steps in! Currently we have 4.

In addition to the classroom training (if necessary), everyone must also take the appropriate online tests! You can go ahead and do that before the classroom training. Please make sure you select KWPR as your pool! If you have already taken online tests but were not able to selected KWPR as your pool, please let us know so that we can make sure you get associated with KWPR.
